DeutschVA and shaft seals — for a wide variety of applications
Rotary shaft seals
Main dimensions according to DIN 3760. Usually consist of a seal lip and an outside stiffening ring made of metal vulcanized into the sealant. The mainspring (spring seal, garter spring) presses the seal lip onto the passed through shaft and guarantees either a dynamic or static sealing, also in case of low differences in pressure. Radial shaft seals are also known under the designation "simmerring" and are versatile.
- With an outer sheath made of elastomer (elastic plastic material) which can compensate slight, temperature-driven size variations of the housing bore as well as unevenness of the bore surface.
- Corresponds to type BA with additional protective lip against soiling, such as dust and dirt, for higher tightness.
- With exposed outer ring made of metal for simplified mounting as well as a solid, precise and centered location in case of precise housing bores with high surface quality. The sealing action of the outer sheath is lower compared to type BA which requires - if necessary - a mounting through sealing paste.
Axial shaft seals
- are fixed onto the shaft and thus rotate normally with it, whereas the mating track is statically fixed. The seal lip seals at the mating surface - mostly a part of the housing. Economically viable for simpler sealing tasks, such as the protection against dust and splash water. Compensate uneven running of the shaft and slight angular deviations.
Material of sealing rings
- are temperature-resistant between circa -30°C up to +100°C, temperatures up to circa +120°C are also temporarily admissible.
- are temperature-resistant between circa -20°C up to +200°C, temperatures up to circa +240°C are also temporarily admissible. Suitable for higher speeds and resistant against "aromatic hydrocarbons" (gasoline). The mainspring made of stainless steel guarantees a high resistance against corrosion.
- are suitable for use in case of temperatures from circa -30°C up to +100°C, temporarily also up to circa +120°C. Are manufactured completely of NBR-elastomer rubber and thus are extremely corrosion-resistant.
