Self-aligning ball bearings — Variable shaft guidance

Self-aligning ball bearings have the same basic characteristics as deep groove ball bearings. However, they have two rows of balls. These can be pivoted together with the inner ring by a few degrees. Thus, the bearing can compensate for misalignment and deflections of the shaft.

Versions of self-aligning ball bearings

Self-aligning ball bearing: Main dimensions according to DIN 630. Double row. Usable in case of high radial and low axial load-ratings. Excellent compensation of misalignment. With cylindrical or tapered bore.
With extended inner ring: Main dimensions according to DIN 630. For the simple and stable fixing onto a shaft through a shoulder screw.

Material description of self-aligning ball bearings

Self-aligning ball bearings made of rolling bearing steel: are cost-effective and can withstand very high loads. The bearing steel is wear-resistant, shock-resistant, conductive and magnetic.
Self-aligning ball bearings made of stainless steel: are hygienic, corrosion-resistant (to fresh water), sometimes lubricated with food-grade grease (recognizable by the suffix -GF), magnetic and withstand high loads.

Special design of the ball bearing

The bearing clearance is the amount by which the two rings of a non-installed roller bearing can be displaced in relation to one another. There are different internal clearance classes. CN is "normal internal clearance" and is the best choice for many applications. C3, C4, ... indicates increased clearance. C2, C1, ... stands for reduced clearance.

Type of sealing of the bearing to protect it from contamination.

Inner and outer ring material

Material of the rolling element (i.e. the balls or rollers)
