O-arrangement - What is meant by an O-arrangement?
The O-arrangement is an arrangement of at least two bearings where the pressure center is outside the bearing points.
- Question: Why can an O-arrangement absorb greater tilting moments than the X-arrangement?
- Answer: In an O-arrangement, the distance between pressure centers is greater, allowing it to absorb larger tilting moments than an X-arrangement.
- Question: How does heat development during operation affect the O-arrangement?
- Answer: The heat development during operation affects the bearing preload differently. In an O-arrangement, the preload decreases with a more heated shaft.
