Force flow - What is the force flow in the context of rolling bearings?
The term "force flow" is often used in the context of force flow lines. The arrangement of rolling bearings is influenced by the position of the pressure lines (force flow lines). In an X-arrangement, the pressure center is between the bearing points, while in an O-arrangement, the pressure center is outside the bearing points.
- What influences the arrangement?
- Answer: The arrangement affects the ability of the bearings to absorb tilting moments.
- How are forces transmitted in an X-arrangement?
- Answer: In an X-arrangement, the force flow changes when the contact angles of the rolling bearings are arranged differently. The force flow occurs in the direction of the roller surfaces.
- How are forces transmitted in an O-arrangement?
- Answer: In an O-arrangement, the force flow runs perpendicular to the roller surfaces of the rolling bearing. An inclined support-load bearing arrangement in an O-arrangement has a greater support width and can better absorb tilting moments.
