How do I assemble sheet metal housing bearing sets?

  • Combination pliers or other sturdy pliers.

Preparation: The outer ring of the bearing insert or the bearing seat in the housing should be lubricated a little so that the bearing insert can be easily swiveled.

  1. The bearing inserts usually have a pin on the outer ring, but this is only necessary for cast housings. For the sheet steel housing it is disruptive.

  2. This pin can be pulled out with pliers.

  3. The bearing insert is now inserted into the sheet steel housing.

  4. Then the other side of the housing is placed on top.

  5. Now the sheet steel housing bearing unit can be mounted. The bearing insert can still be swiveled in the housing, e.g. for fine adjustment. A long lever should be used for this.
